We’ve tackled America’s toughest, most interesting field machining jobs since 1974 — but our success depends on the right team.
Quick nav
You won’t sit behind a desk waiting for something to break. We send you straight into action. You’ll work on rocket launch pads and wind turbine flanges. You’ll build ships, face power plant pipe and cut up offshore oil platforms. And as a field tech, you’ll spend half your time traveling and working in parts of America that few folks ever get to see.
We welcome experienced machinists, but hands-on experience isn’t mandatory. If you bring a ‘we before me’ attitude, we’ll train you. We’ll teach you.
Whether you’re a seasoned machinist, a mechanically inclined farm kid or a fresh tech school grad, there’s a good chance you’ll fit in.
Field machining is a tough field with long hours and lots of travel. We’re always playing an away game. But our compensation and benefits package make it easy for you and your family to appreciate your hard work.
And you’ll get a 25% boost for field jobs, time-and-a-half for overtime and double on Sundays. As you progress through our three-tier training program during your first two years, your base pay grows.
You get 75% premium coverage and 50% for dependents. Some plans are HSA eligible, too. Looking for life insurance? We’ve got that, too.
For every 3% you save, we’ll match it 100%. Vesting is staggered in 20% increments, which means it’s all yours after 5 years.
Six paid holidays plus 48 hours PTO to start, with another three hours in the bank every month. And at Mactech, family comes first. If you have a problem at home, we’ll get you home — with leave sharing for protection during emergencies.
Your success is our success. From basic blueprint reading to large-scale project management, our training process is designed to help all technicians grow their skills and career.
Field machining requires 50% travel. But when you’re away from home, Mactech keeps you comfortable. We cover travel and accommodations. And you get $65 per day for food — keep the change.
I love the travel, seeing new places. The average person doesn’t get to just drive onto an Air Force base and build part of a rocket. Mactech lets you see things you wouldn’t be able to see if you were just a tourist.
I’ve been with Mactech for 30 years. I started as a field tech and spent a long time traveling. I stuck around because it’s a good company. They treat people well, the work is very interesting and every day it’s different.
Mactech is still a family-owned operation that understands people do this job for their families. When things happen, family comes first. They treat people good.
Working for Mactech is fun because it’s different every day. You’re not pushing a button in a factory. You work with your hands. It’s challenging and it’s hard. And a big thing is being able to travel and see the inner workings of industrial settings that other people don’t even know exist. What’s the inside of a power plant look like? A refinery? How’s a ship built? When you work for Mactech, you’ll know.
You’ll love where you’ll live.
Whether you want to work in the field or grow the business, it takes a team to keep our customers happy. See our open positions below:
At Mactech, we hire for attitude and train for skill. If you’re a quick learner who’s ready for a challenge, we encourage you to apply. You can expect to hear from us within 48 hours.
